Claude Desktop and desktop targets (Endpoint AI)

When to use Claude Desktop alongside Harriet, and how the default desktop target setting affects new devices.

Harriet’s day-one setup focuses on Harriet Desktop. Some organizations still standardize on Claude Desktop (or other compatible desktop clients) for part of the team.

Default app target

In Endpoint AI → Settings, Default app target controls how newly enrolled devices apply skills and MCP:

Harriet Desktop only — best when everyone uses Harriet Desktop.
Claude Desktop only — use when agents must provision into Claude Desktop.
Both — use when you run Harriet Desktop and Claude Desktop on the same machines or need flexibility during migration.

Existing devices keep their current target until you change them per device or adjust org defaults and re-sync.

Claude Desktop

If your organization standardizes on Claude Desktop for policy or workflow reasons, set the default target appropriately and ensure the Harriet background agent is installed so provisioning and skills sync. Claude Desktop is available during PLG onboarding and in org settings; per-device overrides remain available after rollout.
